Get well soon CA!

I wrote nothing hoping it isn't true but unfortunately it is: as Miss Fede found out in his blog, CA Sorensen broke his collarbone crashing in the 6th stage of Vuelta a Catalunya. He would have been Saxo Bank leader in Giro d'Italia but now has to face a 3 weeks stop. Too bad! and a pity also for Schleck ambitions in Classics because he would have been a valuable helper.

No panic anyway: the team already showed to be really strong.

A Big Good News...and an old cute pic

Riis Cycling and Luxembourg Airlines Formalize Their Partnership
[30.03 11:09] Riis Cycling and Luxembourg Airlines have agreed to formalize their cooperation so Luxair will become an official sponsor and continue to support Team Saxo Bank throughout 2010.

Over the past two years, Luxair has proven to be a very important partner for the team, working closely with the team's Logistics Manager and the Luxembourg based staff to provide the team with travel and air cargo services. Luxair will now enjoy the benefits that come with sponsorship, including attractive brand exposure as well as access to the exclusive hospitality that is part of the Team Saxo Bank set up. Frank and Andy Schleck have been joined by Laurent Didier this year, giving Team Saxo Bank, an incredibly strong pool of Luxembourg based talent.

“With three Luxembourg riders and several riders based in Luxembourg, Team Saxo Bank is nearly a Luxembourg team. Moreover, Laurent Didier, Andy and Frank Schleck are incredibly talented Luxembourgish cyclists and are, like Luxair, ambassadors for Luxembourg abroad. Therefore, formalizing the partnership with Team Saxo Bank was a natural step to consolidate this already existing relationship. Both Luxair and these cyclists have a philosophy based on excellence and passion, and this is why we are looking forward to continuing the partnership “said Adrien Ney, President and CEO of LuxairGroup.

“Our relationship with Luxair has always been fantastic and we are really looking forward to the new season together. We have always appreciated the support they have given us and we are excited to be able to formalize our partnership in this way. It is a pleasure to welcome them into our fine group of partners, a group that includes many world class companies and individual market leaders. We look forward to sharing many successes this year and I know that we will give Luxair's clients and staff plenty to be proud of” commented Bjarne Riis.

Andy is hard training...

...and will be back soon. He probably jumped on the couch watching his mates racing and wining in Spain and Belgium so he twitted: "Spartacus is back! big Congratulation!!!! good job boys keep it up and we try to finish it in the Amstel/Fleche and LBL". He speacks as a leader and I'm sure he's ready to show again his wonderful class.
Here you have a short vid (thanks Marit): enjoy!

My friend Ben gave me that transaltion: "Il dit qu'il manque en rythme de course par rapport à l'annee derniere et il va maintenant essayer de récuperer ce manque avec dans le training.. ehm.. l'objectif maintenant ce sont les classiques. mais il ne sait pas encore s'il va retrouver sa forme jusqu'à cette date, sinon il va aider fränk à remporter une victoire. pour la saison 2011 il est optimistique que riis va trouer un nouveau sponsor."
Merci Ben ;)

Vuelta a Catalunya and Gent - Wevelgem: only bad luck prevent SB to win twice in a day

Yes! because JJ won in Spain and Matti Breschel was in the first group in Belgium till the last kms when unfortunately had a tyre flat. He was in a perfect shape and Saxo Bank worked well as usual, with Baden Cook in the second group stoping a dangerous Tyler Farrar and then helping his daily leader to try reaching the front. But it was too late. Eisel won at the sprint, but I must say that Liquigas made the race: bringing away the gruppetto, leaving Freire behind, pulling till the line with an amazing Daniel Oss, who confirms to be one of the most promising young Italian racers.

E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke: FABIAN!

Amazing! simply amazing! 4 victories in 3 days! Team Saxo Bank is unstoppable. In spite of a crash in the first kms Uncle Bjarne's team kept the race under absolute control. Kostergaard - BRAVO! - was in the breack away, so all the work was to the other teams, with Tom Boonen and Fabian Cancellara glued each others. When Boonen went away only Cancellara and Flecha was ready to follow him, but reached the breackers only Fabian found an helper. Klostergaard was able to pull again for him, then he reamained at the end of the front group.
The final was exciting: Boonen, Flecha and Fabian said Good Bye! and went away. At 3 km Fabian attacked, his breack mates was ready to reply but not to risk in a dangerous curv that he simply made in a crazy way. He won there. He got a little gap and started his solo TT.... till the finish line.
But I want also point out a really young racer
who showed all his value: Fabio Felline. You'll hear again talking about him. And do you guess his age? He's 19.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yeah yeah yeah: it's my b-day. I'm half sick - shit weather, I'm not the only one - and not sure I'll have a decent party. I already had three great presents anyway: the first it's a little difficult to understand for you lucky citizens of civilized countries out of Italy but have a look here and maybe you'll do: http://www.newropeans-magazine.org/content/view/11175/121/ Last night RaiPerUnaNotte showed that a riot against that misery is possible! Thank you!

My second present was fron Team Saxo Bank: 3 victories in 2 days!! Matti, Jens and Alex was simply the bests. Do anybody keep having doubs about Riis Cycling?

And my 3th gift is your friendship: I'm geting lots of whishes and am really moved. You know, we share a passion - the most of us - and I'm sure we can
trust on each others even if we never met maybe. If you come to Florence you can be my guest: I'm seting up a B&B and Schleck fans have a special discount.
What would I like for my b-day? oh... but you already know :)

Schleck says he's a Classics favourite despite setbacks

By:Daniel Benson
Andy wants Amstel title, will help brother Frank at Liège

Despite pulling out of the Volta Catalunya through illness Andy Schleck believes he can still be a force in the Classics this spring. The Luxembourg rider finished second in last year’s Tour de France and won Liège-Bastogne-Liège with a terrific attack, however he has had his 2010 season wrecked by crashes, injury and now illness.

He looked to be returning to form during last week’s Milan-San Remo, but according to Schleck, that was when a stomach bug first surfaced. “I had it from Milan-San Remo. Stuart O’Grady was sick the day before and then I was struck down,” he told Cyclingnews.

“First I felt okay but then on the night before I pulled out of Catalunya I was just up all night vomiting.”

Schleck returned to his family in Luxembourg on Wednesday and will stay there until the next race on his schedule, Vuelta a Pais Vasco. It will be his last chance to rack up valuable racing miles before the Classics, where he’ll look to help his brother Frank win Liège, before aiming his sights on winning Amstel Gold Race for the first time in his career.

“I’m feeling a lot better now. I took some medicine from the doctor and I’m okay,” he said. “I was really looking forward to racing all of Catalunya and racing with Frank again but there’s nothing I can do.”

Before competing in Vuelta a Pais Vasco Schleck will train at home. “I can be in top form at the Classics, of course I can. It would have been better if I’d done Catalunya instead of training at home but it’s happened now and I need to go home and train even harder. I’m still a favourite and I’ll be there with Frank in the Classics.”

Schleck’s bad luck started before the turn of the year when he was hit by a car. Although he left the scene of the accident with just a broken bike he picked up his first injury in January. After a long training ride with his brother and Jens Voigt he complained of mild pain in his ankle, which turned out to be tendonitis. This delayed his racing debut as he sought treatment and he and eventually made his season debut at the Giro del Friuli at the start of March.

Settimana Coppi e Bartali: bravo Cimolai!

Yesterday I wasn't in the mood to celebrate, but Team Liquigas and Davide Cimolai specially deserve a post. They dominated the TTT and this young neo-pro also got the best young jersey: I promise you an interview with him in next days :) Bravo!! Bravo to Team De Rosa too, and here I point out another talented young guy: Stefano Borchi. Lampre was 3 and here you have - also - Adriano Malori and Diego Ulissi.
BDW Yes... you see... there was also... can't remember his name: the most arrongant doper unfortunately again - in the peloton...

«Dommage, je me sentais bien»

Allez Andy!

Do you remeber that day? of course you do. We can't forget. You were so happy and we shared your joy. You won and did that in a way that was simply amazing, so beautiful to see, so irresistible.
You'll win again for sure and we are confident and untroubled because we know that your brother is right: "don t worry U ll be good.ones U put it on cruisecontrol U rule this sports.IT S NICE having talent bro.We all been there". Yes, Andy, that is. I was sad and worried today but now am not. A little stomach problem is nothing, you will be in a perfect shape very soon: take your time, get well. There is nothing that you can't do. Allez!!

Andy twitted...

"Am very disappointed to have to withdraw from the Vuelta Catalunya. I was having gastro-intestinal problems since be4 Milan-San Remo, I realize that I can’t change the current situation, but am still optimistic 4 the future races I am confident for my main goals this year! Thanks 4 all your support!I really appreciate that! :) "
That's nothing. I'm really sad. But ok, it's a bad period, it will end. Be strong. A big hug xxx

Vuelta a Ctalunya: Andy didn't start

Spanish television told about 'stomach problem'... But I don't know anything more yet. It seems that he - as some other racers - got a flu in Milano-Sanremo... Or is it his knee again? I'm worryed.

Volta a Catalunya TT

Voss? who's that? we don't know but we'll know probably. 2010 seems to be the young neo-pro year and I'm glad. Leipheimer and Kloden instead we well know and can't say they are neo or young... Cav is still quite young but but we well know him too, even if I think is 7 place is a little surprise: he looked in a very bad shape till Saturday and the debate is open about Columbia decision to bring him and not Greipel to Milano-Sanremo. What's your opinion?
A surprise also the pokey performances of TT specialists like Menchov, Basso, Zabriskie, Vande Velde, Kreuziger.... Juan José Haedo was the best Sexy Banker (38), then Jaroslaw Marycz (40). I think that the 53 of Frank Schleck is a pretty good result, Andy Schleck 130 is... how can I say... normal? ;)
